New Technology at OCtech


OCtech, with the support of Fairey Chevrolet, recently purchased a 2012 Chevrolet Volt series hybrid vehicle. The vehicle will be used to enhance the education of students enrolled in the Automotive Technology program. The Chevy Volt will c...omplement a LG-Create parallel hybrid vehicle trainer recently donated by the OCtech Foundation. The Chevy Volt and LG-Create Hybrid Trainer will provide students the hands-on experience necessary to become an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified technician. The Volt’s high tech systems and impressive computer controls are now being used on many other mainstream vehicles.
“Our OCtech automotive students will have a competitive advantage for employment due to their experience with these hybrid systems,” said Dennis Jonski, Automotive Program Coordinator. “Our program has been fortunate to have added state of the art equipment such as a Hunter ‘Hawkeye’ alignment system, Robinair air conditioning station, Hunter low profile tire machine, and numerous Snap-on diagnostic tools. Our students are committed to their coursework to become certified automotive technicians.” The Snap-on DVOM meter certification program will also give students additional credentials for employment. The OCtech Automotive Technology program is nationally accredited by the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation a division of Automotive Service Excellence.
