OCtech will award an Associate in Applied Science Degree with a Major in Physical Therapist Assistant.
Will I have to pass a licensing exam to practice as a PTA?
Yes, after receiving your Associate Degree, you will apply to the state upon which you wish to practice for eligibility to sit for the National Physical Therapy Exam. You must pass this exam to practice as a PTA in the state you applied. An exam fee is required.
How do I apply?
You must attend a Health Information Session either in person or online to receive an application packet.These packets will be made available at the beginning of January each year. The deadline for application is April 1 or the Thursday before if April 1 falls on a weekend. Applications should be turned into Admissions between the hours of 8:00 – 4:00 on Monday – Thursday. No late applications will be accepted.

According to the US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of a PTA is "expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2018." There is an expectant 33% increase in the need for PTA's.
Effective April 30, 2014, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College's Physical Therapist Assistant Program has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314; phone: 703-706-3245; email: email@example.com). Candidate for Accreditation is a pre-accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates that the program may matriculate students in technical/professional courses and that the program is progressing toward accreditation. Candidate for Accreditation is not an accreditation status nor does it assure eventual accreditation.
