Emergency Medical Technician

Certificate in Emergency Medical Technician
16 Semester Hours

Emergency Medical Technicians are certified healthcare providers who are trained to respond to, treat and transport individuals in emergency situations. With the assistance of dispatchers, advanced EMTs and paramedics, EMTs are integral members of the emergency response team. Students learn the skills necessary to care for critically ill and injured patients - including airway management, patient assessment and trauma care - through classroom lectures, hands-on skills practice and field training with actual transport agencies. The demand for emergency medical personnel is increasing, especially in Orangeburg and Calhoun counties.
