Licensed practical nurses provide basic healthcare and assistance to sick, injured, disabled and chronically ill patients under the direction of a physician or registered nurse in a variety of healthcare settings, including nursing homes, long-term care or rehab facilities, hospitals, physician's offices and clinics, home healthcare, insurance companies, schools and correctional facilities. The employment of LPNs is projected to grow by 16% in the U.S. through 2024 and 24% in S.C. through 2022, according to www.careeronestop.org.
There are two paths to becoming an LPN. The traditional Practical Nursing program offers face-to-face classes and clinical experiences in a variety of settings over 3 semesters. Our PN Flex program - designed for working adults who have completed all prerequisite courses and have experience as a CNA, MOA or other healthcare provider - offers a combination of face-to-face and online classes and clinical experiences over 3 semesters.
"If you love helping people and have a passion for it – and you want to be in a program that’s going to prepare you to be not just a nurse, but a great, competent nurse – then you belong in the PN program at OCtech."
