Editing Charts
Column, Bar, Line and Stacked Bar Charts can all be
created the same way because they can all be created using the same worksheet
data. So assuming you've created a chart and you want to use the
same data, but display your chart using a different chart type. All
you have to do to change the chart to a different type is choose Chart
Type from the Chart menu. Chart appears on the menu only if the chart
is selected (has handles around it).
A pie chart must be created separately because remember
a pie contains only one set of data (one column or one row). Of course
you can chart one set of data in a column, bar, or line chart if you wish
to display your data in one of those ways. However a stacked bar
chart requires multiple sets of data.
Note: Be careful
when creating charts from worksheets that contain totals rows or columns.
You will never highlight the totals row or column unless that is the only
row or column of data you select. And you will NEVER select a totals
row or column when creating a stacked bar chart.
Once your chart is created,
you can edit any part of the chart by choosing Chart Options from the Chart
menu. Or you can right-click on any individual part of the chart
(a column, the title, the x-axis labels, etc.) and choose Format from the
shortcut menu.
Read pages 4.01 through 4.38
and perform the steps as instructed in the text. Pay special attention
to the chart elements on page 4.04.
