Advisement
Get to know your program advisor. Every student has a program advisor at OCtech. It’s important to get the right answers to your questions the first time.

First Meeting With Your Program Advisor
Discuss your program of study. Some courses require a minimum score on the ASSET/Compass test. Your performance on the test may indicate the need for some course preparation before enrolling in specific courses in your program of study. Your program advisor has access to your scores and will develop a plan of action with you.

Know which classes you have taken.
Know which classes have a prerequisite.
Assess your current situation: Having difficulty with a course? What courses are you doing well in and enjoy.
Plan your courses for the next term.

Ask Questions
Your advisor can give you the answers or refer you to someone on campus who can.

Transfer Credit
Credits earned (from other colleges) with a grade of C or better may be transferred to OCtech. All courses must be evaluated to meet requirements for program of study. The Registrar’s office must have an official transcript to evaluate your courses for credit. Your program advisor will carefully review your situation on a one on one basis.
