New Students Invited to OCtech’s Fall Assembly, Aug. 17-18

Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College will help new students get college-ready during its annual Fall Assembly, set for Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 17-18. Hundreds of students are expected to attend the major-specific sessions.

Students will benefit from small group meetings with coordinators and faculty from their program of choice and learn about the type of training they will need to get the job they want.

This year’s Fall Assembly will be divided into three sessions over two days. The first session, beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, is for nursing and health science prep students. The second session, beginning at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, is for industrial technology, computer technology, education, business, criminal justice and paralegal students. The final session, beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, is for transfer students.

Featured keynote speaker at the first session will be Amanda Coffey, Respiratory Care program coordinator and OCtech graduate. Mikee Johnson, president and CEO of Cox Industries Inc., will speak during the second session. The final session will feature an address by Will Hardison, a transfer student now studying at the College of Charleston.

This year, OCtech’s Middle College students will have the opportunity to receive their class schedules, get student IDs, purchase parking decals, tour the campus and visit the bookstore during special orientation sessions from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 19-20.
