One needs to utilize a variety of methods to have a successful job search. Finding a job is hard work and requires one to be very well organized. The search for a quality job takes time and there will be some frustrations. Some tips to keep in mind while looking for a job is to use a professional voice on the telephone and to make sure your answering machine/voice mail has an appropriate outgoing message.

• Apply directly with an employer if possible
• Network-inform family and friends that you are looking for a job and ask if they are aware of any positions in your field
• Use the College Job Placement Office
• Get job leads from instructors
• Search the classifieds
• Use the Employment Security Commission/Job Service Office
• Use temporary agencies/staffing services
• Use private employment agencies-you may have to pay a fee
• Attend job fairs
• Mail out resumes and keep track of where you send them 
• Call job hotlines
• Search the Internet
• Do volunteer, co-op or internship work
• Look through the yellow pages for companies to contact
• Utilize the Chamber of Commerce
• Listen to radio and tv ads
