GENERAL RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY
General radiologic
technologists produce x-ray films (radiographs) of the human body for use
in diagnosing medical problems. They interact with patients by explaining
procedures and various positioning techniques necessary to produce quality
images of bony and soft tissue structures. Extensive knowledge of
radiography equipment is necessary to produce quality radiographs.
Students in OCtech's General Radiologic Technology program receive a
technological education consisting of classroom and clinical experience.
Students get "hands on" experience by assisting the radiographer with
various radiographic exams.
With additional education, graduates may complete the associate degree in
Radiologic Technology.
Classes begin in the Fall semester only. Admission to the General
Radiologic Technology program is based on successful completion of
required placement tests and proof of high school diploma or G.E.D. The
Admissions Office will provide specific program information and additional
admission requirements.Students will be required to have a Criminal
Background Check as part of the admissions process.
Proof of current CPR certification before entering radiology clinical
educational centers is required. Out of town travel will be required for
selected clinical experience.
