3.2 Governance and Administration

3.2.1

The governing board of the institution is responsible for the selection and the evaluation of the chief executive officer. (Selection of Chief Executive Officer)

Narrative: The Commission, in accordance with the powers and duties conferred upon it in the SC Code of Laws Section 59-53-52: Powers and duties of area commissions, generally- Item 8, selects the President from a list of at least three qualified candidates who are recommended by a committee consisting of the Chairman of the Orangeburg-Calhoun Area Technical Education Commission, the Chairman of the State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education (or a designated member), and one Technical College President appointed by the two aforementioned persons .

The responsibilities of the Area Commission include the appointing and evaluating of the President as directed by SC State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education Policy 1-1-102 and as outlined in the SC Code of Laws Section 59-53-51, as well as in Area Commission Bylaws Article IV Section 4.1a.
