For each major in a degree program, the institution assigns responsibility for program coordination, as well as for curriculum development and review, to persons academically qualified in the field. Narrative:Each program at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College (OCtech) is assigned to an academically qualified program coordinator and academic dean. The organizational structure at the College designates academic deans as the individuals with primary responsibility for program coordination and oversight of curriculum development, instruction, and program review. Each program has an appropriately credentialed program coordinator who is responsible for coordination of in-depth competency-based course outline development and program review. The College has six deans and twenty-two program coordinators, all of whom have the academic qualifications to provide effective management of curriculum in their respective areas. The job description for these positions outlines the academic requirements and responsibilities for individuals assigned to the positions of academic dean and program coordinator. The essential duties/functions section of the job description indicates that the individual is responsible for the instructional planning and development of curriculum in the identified area.
Deans and program coordinators report to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Academic credentials for program coordinators and academic deans are listed on pages 229-234 in the Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Catalog, 2004. Credentials are also detailed in the Roster of Instructional Staff.
