Narrative: An Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College (OCtech) publication is defined as any newspaper, pamphlet, brochure, booklet, or document bearing the name of OCtech that is prepared or developed by or for the College, representing programs, offerings, services, and/or policies of the College. OCtech publishes a wide array of materials, in both print and electronic formats, in order to make its academic policies and procedures available to students, faculty, and other interested parties. Distance learning students have access to these policies and procedures via the OCtech website. The College adheres to the principles of good practice and accurately represents the programs and services of the College in a manner that helps to further its mission to provide quality and affordable comprehensive education programs.

The official policies and associated administrative procedures established by the Area Commission are published in the Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Catalog, 2004, and the OCtech Policies and Procedures Manual is published on the College Intranet in an accessible, understandable format. The official Catalog and OCtech Policies and Procedures Manual, along with the OCtech Student Handbook, 2004, the OCtech Employee Handbook, the Curriculum and Continuing Education semester schedules, program brochures, and marketing tools all serve as references or guides to action for college personnel, students, and the general public. The official Catalog and other cited publications are disseminated or available to the public through a variety of means, including hard copies and postings on the OCtech public website. The College’s Public Relations Office ensures that information describing the College is accurate and that all commitments made in writing are legitimate. All publications are updated regularly to ensure that the principles of good educational practice are accurately stated. Print materials are updated on a calendar cycle; however, changes to electronic documents are updated as necessary.

The Orangeburg-Calhoun Area Technical Education Commission determines academic policies, standards for admission and graduation of students, and ensures that the College adheres to the principles of good educational practice.

Distance education students are provided timely access to information regarding academic policies through the OCtech Public Website, Campus Cruiser, and WebCT tools.
