Narrative:
Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College (OCtech) publicly distributes its academic calendar, grading policies, and refund policies through a variety of print and electronic media. The Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Catalog, OCtech Student Handbook, and Semester Course Brochures are the most widely distributed and recognized sources of this information. All publications are readily available to prospective and current students.
The Academic Calendar is located in print form in the Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Catalog, 2004 and in the OCtech Student Handbook, 2004. In addition, the calendar can be accessed on the College’s public website at http://www.octech.edu and on Campus Cruiser at http://prod.campuscruiser.com/octech. In addition, there are several links to the academic calendar on the OCtech public web page. There is also a link to Campus Cruiser from the public web page. From Campus Cruiser, the calendar can be viewed by selecting the calendar button on the main page.
Grading policies are printed in the Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Catalog, OCtech Student Handbook, and on each individual course syllabus. Computation of grade point average is outlined in detail for students in each of these publications. The College utilizes a four point grading scale. The public web page also includes a grade point average calculator to assist students with computing their grade point average based on current and projected grades. Student Services staff members routinely use this resource with students who are in poor academic standing. This tool provides an effective means for students and staff to project needed grades to bring students back into good academic standing and maintain progress towards degree or goal completion. Grading policies are developed in accordance with the South Carolina State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education Policy 3-2-105: Grading System and Standards of Student Progress and South Carolina State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education Procedure 3-2-105.1: Grading System and Standards of Student Progress .
