Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing
Students who begin in 9th or 10th grade can finish high school with an Associate in Science or Associate in Applied Science degree. Students beginning in grades 11 and 12 can earn one or more certificates and make progress toward completing a degree.
OCtech’s Career Academy has two health science pathway options.
This pathway is for students who want to transfer to the Bachelor’s of Healthcare Sciences program at the Medical University of South Carolina to pursue a specialized degree.
This pathway is for students who want to be well prepared to enter one of OCtech’s Nursing/Health Science Programs.
Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Specialized Transfer Associate of Science Degree is designed to transfer to MUSC’s Healthcare Studies program. Course work includes pre-requisites for specialized clinical degrees including Pharmacy, Medicine, Physical Therapy, etc. These courses will also transfer to all other public and most private colleges and universities in South Carolina. (65-66 semester credit hours)
Students should also plan to earn at least one of the following certificates to give them the clinical hours needed for competitive application to MUSC. Certification will result in the 72 total hours needed to transfer to MUSC.
Students have the option to pick one of the 5 clinical certifications: Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technican, Electrocardiography or Phlebotomy.
The Health Professions and Clinical Studies General Technology Degree is designed to better prepare students for competitive admissions for OCtech’s professional programs, such as Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiologic Technology, or Medical Assisting. (Associate of Applied Science – 64 semester credit hours)
Transfer course selections are also available to encourage students who want to pursue a Bachelor’s of Science degree.
Students will earn one or more of the following workforce certificates to prepare for a Competitive Admission program, such as Nursing:
- Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate and NACES Certification
- Phlebotomy Certificate and NCCT Certification (must be 18 to complete required labs)
- Electrocardiography Certificate and NCCT Certification
- Emergency Medical Technician Certificate and State and National Certifications (must be 18 to complete required labs and sit for certification exam)
- Patient Care Technician
This Academy is designed for students with an interest in Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering, or Engineering Technology Pathways.
Transfer course selections are available to encourage students who want to pursue a Bachelor’s of Science degree.
Associate in Applied Science – General Technology (62 semester credit hours)
Students will also earn an Introductory Engineering Technology Certificate.

Associate in Applied Science – General Technology (62 semester credit hours)
Students will also earn certificates in Mechatronics: Basic Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics I and II, and an NCCER Core Industry Certification.
