If you were unable to get started on time this semester, don’t fret. This year we are offering Late Start Classes in addition to our regular mini sessions.
Late Start Classes
Late Start Classes give the chance to begin your program of study now and still get the same number of credits so you won’t be behind when spring semester starts. If you want to begin one of the following programs, you can apply if you need to, or if you have already been accepted, you just need to register.
Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College continues to plan for the safe return of students to the campus under the guidance of the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Practicing safety guidelines, these are the in-person classes you are used to attending.
Online classes are taught 100% via the internet with digital tools for live instruction, tutoring and academic support. Take your classes at a time that fits your schedule. Online courses may include discussion boards, group work and virtual classroom experiences.Online courses are identified by section number 40.
Hybrid: Hybrid classes have a portion of the course taught in a traditional setting, while the other portion is taught via online instruction. Traditional portions meet in person at a schedule time, and the online portion is completed according to your schedule. If a lab component is involved, face-to-face labs will be held with social distancing guidelines and a limit of 8 to 12 students.Hybrid courses are identified by section H.
Synchronous Online: These are the same as traditional lecture classes except you will log in online to attend the class during the scheduled time period. You will be able to interact live with your instructor. Students may have the option of attending some face-to-face classes in combination with synchronous classes with instructor approval to ensure safe class sizes.Synchronous Online courses are identified by section H: see Connect notes.
FLEX Programs: Students enrolled in FLEX programs have program-specific attendance options designed to offer maximum flexibility for students. Students enrolled in these programs attend classes with day, evening or online options specifically designed to fit your work or family schedule. Your advisor can give you more information on your particular program. These programs include:
All OCtech programs require a computer in order to complete coursework.On-campus and hybrid classes require a laptop computer.Students may purchase a laptop computer from the OCtech Bookstore or provide their own.Students may use financial aid or scholarship funds for laptops purchased from the bookstore.Students are also encouraged to purchase a support package, extended warranties and/or accidental coverage for their device.
The bookstore stocks three different models of laptops.
All models are OCtech compliant with classroom requirements.
Some programs recommend at least the middle tier laptop stocked by the OCtech bookstore.
Engineering Design Technology (EDT) students: due to the size of the graphics programs used in computer design, the EDT program recommends the top tier computer.
If you already own a computer, it must:
have a USB port;
be capable of adding a second browser, such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox;
be capable of playing, downloading and recording audio and video;
be capable of downloading a free Office 365 license provided by OCtech.
Microsoft Office 365:
Microsoft Office 365 offers the latest Microsoft Office apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.This is free to use for OCtech students and includes cloud storage.More information and download links can be found in your D2L account.

Connect is our online self-service portal where you can check your application and financial aid status, view your classes and adjust your schedule, and much more.
