Three faculty and staff members have been honored as Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College’s Educators of the Year and were recognized during the South Carolina Technical Education Association’s annual conference Feb. 12-14 in Myrtle Beach.

Dean of Academic Advising Dr. Stefanie Brown is the outstanding faculty honoree, TRIO Director Tammie Carter-Jenkins is the outstanding administrator and Payroll Coordinator Dyamond Wannamaker is the outstanding staff member.

SCTEA is a professional association of technical education personnel and others interested in post-secondary technical education.

Brown began working at OCtech in August 2010 as an adjunct medical terminology instructor, and served as a program coordinator and dean before transitioning to her current position in fall 2025. This is Brown’s second Educator of the Year award.

“Working at OCtech has shown me the many opportunities available to make an impact in our students’ lives,” she said. “I really enjoy advising students. These types of dialogue give me a chance to understand their situations. To be able to educate, mentor and guide students from various backgrounds to meaningful employment is extremely fulfilling.”

Brown is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina’s Doctor of Health Administration program. She is a member of the Association of Schools for the Allied Health Professions, American College of Healthcare Executives, National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions, National Academic Advising Association and SCTEA.

Carter-Jenkins has served as OCtech’s TRIO Student Support Services director for six years. Before joining OCtech, she worked in a wide range of leadership and instructional roles across K-12 and higher education settings. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment at Walden University.

“What I value most about working at OCtech is the opportunity to lead with purpose, supporting students as they discover their potential, partnering with dedicated colleagues and helping to create pathways to success for those who need it most,” Carter-Jenkins said. “Education is not just about instruction – it is about impact, and I am honored to serve in a role where every day brings the chance to change lives.”

Carter-Jenkins is a graduate of the South Carolina Technical College System Leadership Academy and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Presidential Leadership Institute. A member of South Carolina Women in Higher Education, she has served on multiple institutional committees focused on student engagement, advising and institutional effectiveness.

Wannamaker has worked at OCtech for eight years, previously serving as an enrollment administrative specialist, college cashier and fiscal technician before becoming the college’s payroll coordinator. A graduate of South Carolina State University, Wannamaker is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

“Each position has strengthened my understanding of how financial and administrative functions directly impact student success and institutional effectiveness,” she said. “What I enjoy most about working at OCtech is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day. It allows me to support students, colleagues and the community through work that truly matters.”
