Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College will hold its summer graduation ceremonies Thursday, July 30, on campus in Roquemore Auditorium.
The 2 p.m. ceremony will honor graduates of the college’s Arts and Science, Advanced Manufacturing and Applied Science programs. Nursing and Health Science graduates will be honored at the 4 p.m. ceremony.
Graduation tickets are required for admission to the ceremonies, which will also be streamed on Facebook.
The speaker for the 2 p.m. ceremony is Dr. Debbie Gideon, a psychology instructor and program coordinator at the college.
Gideon holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from South Carolina State University, and earned her master’s degree in social work and doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Georgia.
Before joining OCtech’s faculty in 2004, Gideon worked for the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center, Orangeburg Area Mental Health Center and CASA/Family Systems. She is the founder of Coaching Awareness For Everyone LLC, and is an active member of the Beta Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and the EmpowerHer Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association.
Monique Eaddy Govan, a perioperative procedural coordinator at MUSC Health-Orangeburg and OCtech alumna, will speak at the 4 p.m. ceremony.
Govan began her career in 1999 as a licensed practical nurse and earned a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership from Claflin University in 2026. She is living with stage IV neuroendocrine cancer and continues to inspire others through her resilience and faith.
