Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College has partnered with AINautics to offer cutting-edge Drone Technology training that incorporates the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in various industries.
A special launch event will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24, beside the Anne S. Crook Transportation and Logistics Center at the back of campus. Guests are invited to watch live drone demonstrations, meet the instructors, learn how drones are transforming businesses, and tour the college’s new Mobile Advanced Manufacturing Lab and redesigned Machine Tool Technology spaces.
The comprehensive Drone Technology program is designed to prepare students for careers in this rapidly growing field. Students will receive hands-on instruction in drone operation, safety protocols, aerial data collection, mission planning and federal aviation regulations. They’ll gain practical experience flying drones, capturing imagery and analyzing data for industries such as agriculture, construction, inspections, public safety, real estate, surveying, transportation and utilities.
The course also prepares students for the Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification exam, enabling them to apply their new skills as licensed drone pilots.
“We’re excited to launch this innovative program that prepares students for careers in one of the fastest-growing sectors of technology,” said Dr. Stephanie Dauway, associate vice president of Workforce Development at OCtech. “Drone technology is transforming industries from agriculture to public safety, and this program positions our students – and local employers – for success in a rapidly evolving job market.”
Scholarships are available, and the first Drone Technology training begins August 4. Visit octech.edu/continuing-ed or call 803.535.1236 to sign up.
