DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

  • Teach Nursing clinical and lab courses across all nursing programs as needed by providing systematically planned and delivered instruction.
  • Maintain records of student academic progress and attendance, evaluate level of achievement and assign grades for the program. If not teaching, time on campus may involve tutoring to assist students.
  • Lecturers will provide clinical and lab instruction of up to 32 hours per week during each academic term. Teaching assignments may include both day and evening classes and clinical, online classes or hybrid classes and weekend clinical on the main campus or in clinical sites.
  • Lecturers are eligible for health insurance under PEBA eligibility guidelines. Lecturers will be eligible for retirement benefits, as are all temporary employees. Lecturers are not eligible for paid holidays or leave; they are paid for hours worked under SC State Law.

Math Lead Tutor

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

  • Ensure the smooth functioning of the Math Lab.
  • Tutor students in Pre-Algebra, Introductory & Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Introductory Statistics.
  • Assist student tutors with tutoring techniques.
  • Create and publish the master schedule of tutoring for the Math Lab including instructor hours with approval of Student Success Center Director and/or Math Lab Coordinator.
  • Coordinate with the Student Success Center Director on training and best practices for tutors.
  • Maintain sign-in sheet for tutoring and ensure tutor notes are being entered into the database for reporting purposes.
  • Collect time sheets once a month for each tutor to the Student Success Center Director.
  • Notify Program Coordinator and Student Success Center Director of any issues involving tutors, students or lab operation.
  • Work with faculty to determine if they want tutor assistance during class time or if tests can be opened for students outside of class time.
  • Work with the Student Success Center Director to improve tutoring services to students.
  • Work with Math Program Coordinator for smooth operation of the Lab.
  • Keep Lab clean by enforcing rules about food & drink.
  • Notify IT when computers are not working.
  • Notify Maintenance when repairs are needed.
  • Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for all who use the Lab.
  • Work with Math Lab Coordinator to ensure department policies are implemented for lab and internet courses.

QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate Degree or higher with the ability to tutor all levels of math. Must be able to tutor pre-algebra and algebra. Prefer the ability to tutor calculus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Math with experience with Math Education, Teaching or Tutoring. Experience with Microsoft Office and organizational skills.

Job Description:

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Student Success Center is seeking part-time tutors to provide academic assistance through individual and group sessions. Schedules for tutoring are determined each semester based on student needs. Tutors are needed in many subject areas, but mainly Biology, Nursing, English, Computer Technology, Accounting and Math. Tutors should be comfortable with teaching content, study skills, organization, and time-management. Tutors are responsible for keeping an accurate record of tutoring sessions.

Tutors for Biology and Nursing and are encouraged to apply. Professionals and students are encouraged to apply. Pay will be based on completed education and relevant credentials.

MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion in the course they are tutoring with a B or higher with a recommendation from an instructor.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Teaches classroom and laboratory courses. Prepare and teach a full range of welding coursework such as oxy-acetylene, gas metal arc, shielded metal arc (including pipe), gas tungsten arc (steel, stainless and aluminum) and fabrication. Supervises students during classroom and laboratory activities.

Must be proficient in SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, all positions plate and pipe, ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Must be proficient with OxyFuel and Plasma Cutting equipment. Must be capable of operation and maintaining all welding lab equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS: Associate Degree in teaching discipline or Graduate Apprentice in appropriate field. Minimum of five (5) years full-time experience or journey worker status required. Teaching experience and NCCER certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s preferred and AWS Certifications
