Barbara "Babs" Hughes
Early Care and Education
Barbara (Babs) Hughes was born and raised in Orangeburg, SC. She attended the university of South Carolina where she received a BA in English literature with a minor in Early Childhood Education. She also has an MAT in ECE from USC, plus and additional 30 graduate hours with an emphasis in instructional technology. Ms. Hughes has worked in childcare across the state, as a 1st and second grade teacher, and as an elementary school administrator. She currently serves as the coordinator for the Early Childhood and Education Transfer programs at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College.
The Associate of Applied Science degree program in Early Care and Education at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, www.naeyc.org. The accreditation term runs from February 1, 2014-July 31, 2021.
